Sea run Speckled Trout and Gray Trout Fishing:
Speckled and Gray Sea Trout:
(Trout) include several types including: Speckled Trout and Gray Trout (Weakfish). Specked trout school and are
easy to catch once located. Weakfish school but often do not congregate
as significantly as do speckled
trout. Weakfish are fished much like speckled trout except they like
deeper waters and cooler waters.
A couple of must have trout producers include:MirrOLure lures and FinS Jig Bodies or similar on a jig head. Any of the shrimp patterns are also a good bet. Trout bait will pick up many other species as well. See: More on Sea Trout Trout are a common estuary fish found in the southern United States. While most of these fish are caught on shallow, grassy flats, spotted seatrout reside in virtually any inshore waters, from the surf of outside islands to far up coastal rivers, where they often come for shelter during cold weather. Deeper water will supply more oxygen and cooler water in addition to a place to school bait fish in warmer Weather Weather:
. Seatrout are active at dawn and dusk. The average size of these fish is 1-2 lb, 5 lb fish are not rare in most areas they inhabit. Fish above 8 lb are much more rare. World record is 17 lb 7 oz.See: N/A Bait and Lures for Sea Trout:
Shrimp as a productive bait:
are an ideal bait for speckled seatrout, but
Shrimp
Shrimp is a highly productive bait. Unfortunately, live and natural shrimp are very difficult to fish with. Here are several very good shrimp baits: Don't forget about shrimp as a fresh water or brackish water bait either; they are great. Shrimp as a productive bait:
pattern lures are also productive. Other excellent baits are the local baitfish imitation and soft artificials, if "worked" correctly. It has been proven that the very large fish will attempt to swallow mullet up to 1/3 of their own size.

Rods/Reels, Line and Terminal for Sea Trout:Trout tackle usually weigh from 1/4 ounce to 1/2 ounce. Light salt rods and surf rods will do and most freshwater rods work nicely. The most common line is probably 6 pound mono although I see a definite trend toward the equivalent weight fireline or braid. Sea trout have very good eye sight and the smaller lines, especially brown and water camo, help catch more fish. The use of less hardware items, swivels and the such, will also help catch more fish trout. An overly stiff rod may cause fish loss because of line size but very often due to trout's tender mouth. | |||||||||||||||
